I have my play up now. This figures to be a very exciting game but I
want to remind all Tankers that this is just another game from a wagering
perspective. We had some amazing games throughout the playoffs and this
will be the cherry on top.
There will be a lot of
"prop plays" available and I may be back with something additional but I
don't like to take away from my enjoyment of the game itself by spreading
myself around too much.

At least we have easy to read Roman numerals this year --- I've
watched every one since IV (KC over Minnesota, which tied the AFC-NFC record
at 2 apiece) and after 59 of these things it's NFC 30, AFC 29 ---
Post-season record has been solid at 7-2 ATS after another regular season
where good picks escaped me --- so, last one this season ---
9) Seattle (-2.5)(-175)
--- I paid for this one and will explain, will count it as 1.5
losses if it fails --- the actual number is 4.5 and if there is going to be
a blowout in this game, I only see Seattle doing that, buying to 3.5
doesn't help that much but with a Seattle win this is still a better value
than a ML bet of -212 or so --- skill position wise, I think the Seahawks
have it --- JSN over Diggs, Walker over Stevenson, but NE may have Henry
over TE of the week for Seattle --- Darnold has not failed in the
postseason, while Maye has been loose with the football and faces one of
the top defenses in the league --- NE won 3 straight defensive and weather
impacted games over LAC, Houston and Denver, the latter two especially
rough --- now facing a team that will put up points, I don't think they
keep up, I had the Rams as my darkhorse of sorts to win it all, and they
played Seattle to the finish, but they have been just about the only team
to march up and down the field against them this year --- so, there you
have it --- a few props that I'm playing ---W, dominant performance by the Seattle D and Spartan KW3 --- 29-13
Cooper Kupp OVR 32.5 Receiving Yards
(-115) --- the veteran still catches everything and to the extent
the Pats try to take away JSN (but still fail in doing so), Darnold will
look to Kupp to keep drives going, he's been significant down the
stretch...W, this one came in fairly early, 6 receptions for 61 yards
Hunter
Henry OVR 38.5 Receiving Yards (-116) --- Seattle does poorly
against TE's and with a solid pass rush, Maye will be looking a bit shorter
on any hurried routes to his solid TE ---L, late start for the entire NE passing game, Henry finished with 31 yards receiving

My picks for Sunday are up now. I may not have access to computer or TV
for these games tomorrow as a major ice storm is expected that may leave us
without electricity.
I like both of Smitty's plays and analysis
but I am going a different route. I hate to admit that being a fan of THIS
New England team and their young QB Maye and coach Vrabel. has permeated my
mind in this biased selection. I may make a side play on Denver +4.5 as
this game could easily fall inside that number as well and the value lies
with that play and number.

I placed this last
week and it’s part of a hedge because Ball Hog recommendation to us on
pre-season play. I took New England at 80 to 1 at start of season. $20 to
win $1,600. I have a 12 point cushion with Bronco’s so hopefully I hit the
middle. If New England wins I will then work another middle with Rams +2.5.
I’m making money no matter what but for the bigger payday I need New
England to win tomorrow.

6-2 - ATS playoffs after a poor
regular season, staying the course ---
7) DENVER (+5.5) (this number available on DK
Predictions, 4.5 elsewhere) --- relying on Bronco defense to hold
things tight and Stidham to not be terrible despite not throwing a pass in
a game since 2023 --- Drake Maye was loose with the football, couple
fumbles last week and not the best game, I think NE wins but they would
happily leave with a 17-13 win, which would be a Denver cover --- line in
general opened at 5.5 then was bet down a point...W, 7-10, looks like every variation of plays on this game was a winner, nice
8) LA Rams (+3.5) (bought) --- here's the
game plan, don't let Shaheed return any kick for a TD and LA should be fine
--- Stafford is the best QB still playing, these two teams had two great
games, LA should have won both until things fell apart after being up two
scores, that won't happen here --- Darnold is banged up but will play, I
think the Rams also win here, but taking an extra point so losing by a FG
in regulation or OT is a win, same as last week in the Bears game --- have
fun all, Smitty L, 27-31 --- tough loss for the Rams in general, fumbled punt, then goal line stand by Seattle to win the game - thinking more about this, Rams should have gone for 2 on their last TD, then this is a chip shot to tie at 31, or no worse position if down by 5

5-1 ATS playoffs --- at 41-6, will call the Seattle game on a TKO --- added Rams (-2.5)
4) SEATTLE (-6.5)(-125) --- all of these involve some buys
--- we all saw what happened a few weeks ago when these teams played,
Seahawks can just rely on their defense and running game to win this one
handily --- TE Kittle is no less than the 3rd most important skill position
player (behind CMcC and Purdy), the team survived against Philly but there
is sort of an aftershock when losing a key player, including all of the
blocking he sets up on other plays --- have never been a big believer in
Darnold, but he doesn't have to do much here to get a DD win....W 41-6
5) NEW ENGLAND (-2.5))-140)
--- here, the difference is Maye over Stroud, whom I'm never trusted
and where Vrabel will ratchet up the heat to see if the Pats can duplicate
the two fumbles and an INT that Stroud had against Pittsburgh --- Nico
Collins is out for this game most likely, Stroud misses a lot of throws and
home field will be huge here W, 28-16
6) LA Rams (-2.5) (bought), will go for the sweep today, SGP below also W, holy point buy, Batman! - 20-17
This last one is a
bit of a lark, SGP --- taking the Rams on the ML and OVR 46.5 against the
Bears, pays +129 --- ridiculous to talk about Stafford not playing in the
cold, he played for over a decade for the Lions where last time I checked
that involves outdoor games at GB and Chicago --- if the Rams get a good
lead, they will not let the 4th quarter Bears get back into the game, but
they will keep scoring --- have fun all, Smitty

All I can say is

What a freaking game! Both of these games were crazy but this Chicago
win was one of the most improbable I have ever seen after not being able to
score a TD until the 4th qtr where they scored three. I'm thinking early in
the game that this coach will lose his job after his 2 failed 4th down
attempts from inside his own territory. This was an incredible
comeback.
Tomorrow a 3 game day . Best of luck to all.

1) JAX (-1.5)
- on the one hand, you might think this is the year for Buffalo and
Josh Allen to finally reach the SB, and it may be, but folks are looking
past the Jaguars, where Liam Coen has Trevor Lawrence playing his best
football ever, along with a nice complement of skill position players ----
also, McDermott is a terrible coach and should get fired after he loses
this game --- Allen only has James Cook for assistance and Jags defense is
very under-rated...L. solid game, could have gone either way, Bills 27-24
2) San
Francisco (+6.5) - this number is getting silly, the Niners are
still a solid team with strength at the skill positions along with key OL
Trent Williams most likely back for this one --- Philly offense has been
sluggish all season, they may win, but in a close one if that... W, outright, 23-19
3) NEW ENGLAND (-3.5) --- I
would normally buy off the hook to get to (-2.5) but it's too expensive and
I don't think it's needed against an injured Charger team and where NE and
QB Maye have been rolling all season --- W, dominant defense for the Patriots --- 16-3

worth noting that the Steelers have won 23 STRAIGHT MNF games, we will see

you make a profit by betting against them in each of the remaining game
(hedging). For instance, I bet $100 on Carolina to win the Super Bowl. If
they were to win, and I don’t hedge, I’d win $16,000. So, for their
remaining games, up to 5 if you count week 18 I would bet against them on
the money line. Say 300 on the money line on Tampa bay. If Tampa wins, I
net $100 profit. If Carolina wins, I continue hedging. It’s a long way to
go, and Carolina is not going to win the Super Bowl, so I’m just trying to
find out what other peoples strategies are going forward. I’m sure other
people followed Ball Hog as well.

I’m sorry that I’m unable to reference the author of the system. I’m not
having luck searching the archives (maybe due to recent issues). My
question is about hedging this system. For those who didn’t follow, the
picks this year were Carolina and New England. I got Carolina at 100 to
win 16000, and the patriots at 100 to win 8000. I know the idea is that if
either makes the playoffs, we are guaranteed to win via hedging. Unless
I’m mistaken, since Carolina is in a win and you’re in (and since the odds
are so long, we could start the hedging in week 18. Just wondering if
anyone else is in on these and what they are all planning to do. thanks

This NFL
Forum is now a test forum and all old posts have been cleared out as our
Tech Mgr is trying isolate what our intermittent "glitches" and "time-outs"
are being caused by. Some are experiencing them and others may not

I've become a fan of this team but I also appreciate the accomplishments and solid talent this team has. Love the young 23 yo QB Maye who lives in my hometown of Huntersville NC and Coach Vrable who was a terrific linebacker for these Pats under Belechick. Vrable knows the needed adjustments to protect his QB's passing game and I believe this will be done. QB Maye is very smart and can run when needed, This is a very humble team and although playing a weaker- rated schedule they have won over some very good team enroute to getting here. Most Tankers know what needs to be known about these teams so no long dialog needed, I'm taking the points on this neutral field.....TW
